I highly recommend it for anyone starting out in Revit or those who want to refine their skills. They are adding on to what I learned from Mr. Designed to be taught with a CD and in classroom.

The clarity of the graphics and the accompanying instructions make this resource accessible for even a novice. I am very impressed by the authors’ extensive knowledge about the Revit product.

If you are new to computer aided drafting this is not the book for you. The underlying tone of the book assumes that you know AutoCAD well. Pros: Enough diagrams and pictures to show that you are understanding the text. Starting files available online from the companion web site to start each lesson Tips about real world problems and how to avoid them Indicators showing what sections of the software is needed for certification, as well as an appendix outlining the certification requirements Step by step lessons on each topic in each chapter Cons: Some of the step by step instructions are vague and misleading Some of the step by step instructions refer to previous steps that are not in the book Typos No glossary to define industry specific terms.

I used this book in conjunction with a college class. Overall the book was helpful in teaching me basic Revit functions. It was a bit mucky to read though it. The authors used strange terminology fly-out instead of drop-down menu was confusing.

The book was also inconsistent on how it approached exercises. Sometimes the required actions were clearly marked and numbered and other times it was buried in paragraphs and again hard to understand the terminology.
