How to set up auto reply (out of office) in outlook? – Question Info

I have been trying to setup an Out of Office reply using OUtlook We are connected to an Exchange server or older. I have searched online but either the instructions are geared to Exchange or they do not seem to work. From what I can see the biggest problem is the Template file. I am able to set up the template but when I create a new rule and click Reply then click the Template button I always get a blank e-mail document even though I have created templates. My other question is whether I have to specify the sender’s name or not.

I do not specify the sender’s name because I want the reply to go to anyone who e-mails me. I am just not sure if this will work. I was looking for a way to set the dates that indicated when I was going to be out of the office. You can set up Outlook to send an automatic response to some or all of the people who send you e-mail messages by using Out of Office Assistant command.

In Outlook , when you first logged in after being out of the office and the Out of Office assistanct was running, a dialogue window appeared asking if you wanted to turn off the Out of Office assistant. If you are Outlook with an Exchange server version or older, if you just use the initial screen you cannot set the dates when you are going to be out of the office. Therefore, you cannot be asked if you want to turn off Out of Office assistant.

However, as I stated in my original question, I cannot seem to get this to work. I hope this is a clearer picture of what I am trying to accomplish and why I am frustrated that it does not work better.

Hi, You can set up Outlook to send an automatic response to some or all of the people who send you e-mail messages by using Out of Office Assistant command.

If the Out of Office Assistant command does not appear, an alternative method to automatically reply to messages is available for all Outlook users. Go to Automatically reply to messages. Click I am currently Out of the Office. In the AutoReply only once to each sender with the following text box, type the message that you want to send to other people while you are out. Thursday, July 1, AM. Thanks for your reply to my question. Unfortunately, I was not specific enough in my original question.

The actual issue I am trying to resolve is this: In Outlook , when you first logged in after being out of the office and the Out of Office assistanct was running, a dialogue window appeared asking if you wanted to turn off the Out of Office assistant. Thursday, July 1, PM.
